Sunflower oil is considered to be one of the most stable oils for frying. The demand for oils with a lower degree of unsaturation than those of traditional oils has significantly increased the availability of oils of high thermostability. Refining the crude sunflower oil on our Tinytech refinery machine will eventually produce an additive free product having good oxidative, flavor and cold-test stabilities.

Functions of Sunflower Oil Refining Equipments –

• Neutralization Reactor: For acid refining, alkali refining and water washing.
•  Decolorization Reactor: To Bleach the Oil and remove pigment from oil.
•  Deodorization Reactor: Removes odor from oil.
•  Thermal Heater: Provides heat energy to raise the temperature.
•  Vacuum Pump: Provides vacuum degree for decolorization and deodorization.
•  Air Compressor: Dry decolorization of bleaching clay.
•  Filtration Unit: Filters bleaching clay and to remove impurities.
•  Steam Generator: Provides steam for deodorization & distillation.

Sunflower Oil Dewaxing

The extracted sunflower oil should be processed further to make it an edible product. Edible oils are refined to improve their flavor, odor, color and stability. The refining process will remove contaminants such as phosphatides, free fatty acids and pro-oxidants. Apart from the normal refining steps, some oils and fats need further processing. They are winterized and modified to alter their melting characteristics.

Sunflower Oil presents an un-pleasant turbidity at low temperature. This can be removed by eliminating components like waxes which solidify at low temperature through the process known as Dewaxing. The process of dewaxing is carried out especially for Sunflower Oil to remove those waxes.

The by-products of dewaxing can be further processed to create value-added products or reduce costs.

Physical Properties of Refined Sunflower Oil –

Sunflower oil is liquid at room temperature. The refined oil is clear and slightly amber-colored. It is more suitable for high temperature cooking. Below are some of the physical properties of the refined sunflower oil:
